Security and privacy

What runs on your device, what we encrypt, how long files are kept.

The full details, and how to check them yourself, are on the Security page. In short:

PDF tools

• Tools marked On your device run inside your browser. Your file is never uploaded; you can even switch off Wi-Fi after the page loads.
• Tools marked Our servers (Office conversions, OCR, PDF/A, AI tools and changing existing text in Edit PDF) send the file over an encrypted connection to an isolated folder. It is deleted within an hour, or straight after you download.

Documents you send for signature

• Documents are encrypted in your browser before they are uploaded.
• In private mode they are end-to-end encrypted: only you and the people you send to can open them, not us.
• Every signed copy carries a digital seal and a certificate of completion, and anyone can check it on the verify page.

• Turn on two-step verification and passkeys in your account. See Your account and signing in.
